500 величайших альбомов всех времён по версии журнала Rolling Stone

«500 величайших альбомов всех времён» (The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time) — пожалуй самый популярный и известный список лучших релизов всех времён и народов. Впервые он был опубликован 18.11.2003 в журнале Rolling Stones, славящимся своими всевозможными музыкальными рейтингами.

К вопросу подошли серьёзно — специалисты Ernst & Young, одной из самых крупных в мире аудиторско-консалтинговых компаний, специально для этого события разработали систему подсчёта голосов. В голосовании участвовало 273 человека. Для более объективных результатов к определению лучших альбомов были допущены люди разных профессий: музыкальные продюсеры, критики, известные музыканты и прочие люди, имеющие авторитет в музыкальной индустрии. В своём выборе они не имели ограничений — принимались альбомы любых жанров, из любых стран, выпущенные в любое время. Каждый из них выбрал 50 альбомов, которые считал лучшими, а всего в анкетах было указано 1 600 названий.
